‘Sky Source’ makes water from air, using atmospheric generators to turn moisture in the air into fresh drinking water. Each Sky Source model is capable of producing up to 300 gallons of fresh water per day, enough for a household or emergency relief efforts and can do so more efficiently than any other method of extraction or filtration. ‘Precipitating Change’ is a short film on architect, David Hertz , who has integrated ‘Skysource’ into his studio to produce up to 150 gallons of water per day. The water is then offered to the public of Venice Beach, CA for free as well as to a local NGO, Community Healing Gardens. Winner of American Institute of Architect’s Spotlight Award and recently screened at the SXSW Eco Conference. More of ‘Sky Source’ can be learned here – http://skysource.org/
“While trying to accommodate the growing needs of an expanding, and very thirsty civilization, we are reshaping the Earth in colossal ways. In this new and powerful role over the planet, we are also capable of engineering our own demise. We have to learn to think more long-term about the consequences of what we are doing, while we are doing it. My hope is that these pictures will stimulate a process of thinking about something essential to our survival; something we often take for granted—until it’s gone… .. I wanted to understand water.” ~ Edward Burtysky
We live in a world that is recreating itself one life and one digital connection at a time. On this landscape for which there are no maps, Seth Godin is a singular thought leader and innovator in what he describes as our post-industrial “connection economy.” Rather than merely tolerate change, he says, we are all called now to rise to it. We are invited and stretched in whatever we do to be artists — to create in ways that matter to other people. Photo: Bill Wadman LISTEN…
“But if you do know what is taught by plants and weather, you are in on the gossip and can truly feel at home. The sum of a field’s forces become what we call very loosely ‘spirit of the place’. To know the spirit of a place is to realize that you are a part of a part and that the whole is made of parts, each of which in a whole. You start with the part you are whole in.” – Gary Snyder Photo : Tanja Brandt

The Lottery of Birth – From birth onwards, our minds are a battleground of competing forces. The outcome of this battle determines the society we create. ‘The Lottery of Birth’ looks at the cultural, educational and commercial forces that shape our identities, often in ways that limit both our personal and political freedom. With a stellar cast bringing together leading activists, journalists, and the best minds in psychology, history and philosophy, the film explores a simple idea: the more we understand the limits on our freedom, the better placed we are to transcend them.
Daniel Pinchbeck – An American philosopher and author who believes the economic systems humanity has created have the potential to act as remedies to the environmental chaos our planet is witnessing today, here, Daniel Pinchbeck discusses ideas of corporate alchemy and whether the ecological crisis is an initiatory process that will lead to the next stage of human evolution. “In the future I believe we will see a creative synthesis, where the counterculture that seeks human liberation melds with the corporate infrastructure to bring about a transformation of our world from within…” Read More…
